Disney’s The Jungle Book is NOW PLAYING in theatres in 3D! Get tickets: http://di.sn/6008BjFgq

Directed by Jon Favreau (“Iron Man”), based on Rudyard Kipling’s timeless stories and inspired by Disney’s classic animated film, “The Jungle Book” is an all-new live-action epic adventure about Mowgli (newcomer Neel Sethi), a man-cub who’s been raised by a family of wolves. But Mowgli finds he is no longer welcome in the jungle when fearsome tiger Shere Khan (voice of Idris Elba), who bears the scars of Man, promises to eliminate what he sees as a threat. Urged to abandon the only home he’s ever known, Mowgli embarks on a captivating journey of self-discovery, guided by panther-turned-stern mentor Bagheera (voice of Ben Kingsley), and the free-spirited bear Baloo (voice of Bill Murray). Along the way, Mowgli encounters jungle creatures who don’t exactly have his best interests at heart, including Kaa (voice of Scarlett Johansson), a python whose seductive voice and gaze hypnotizes the man-cub, and the smooth-talking King Louie (voice of Christopher Walken), who tries to coerce Mowgli into giving up the secret to the elusive and deadly red flower: fire. The all-star cast also includes Lupita Nyong'o as the voice of the fiercely protective mother wolf Raksha, and Giancarlo Esposito as the voice of wolf pack’s alpha male Akela. “The Jungle Book” seamlessly blends live-action with photorealistic CGI animals and environments, using up-to-the-minute technology and storytelling techniques to immerse audiences in an enchanting and lush world. The wild adventure swings into theaters in 3D on April 15, 2016.

Disney Announces Jungle Book 2, Maleficent 2 & More!

Disney is moving full speed ahead on their live-action fairy tale slate and we’re breaking it all down for you right now! One of the biggest movies of the year is getting a sequel and has some plenty of friends coming along for the ride. It shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise, but Walt Disney Studios has confirmed a sequel to their live-action Jungle Book is on the way with director Jon Favreau and writer Justin Marks set to return. The film has already amassed over $500 million in its first two weekends in release so a sequel was all but inevitable. As for when we could potentially see Jungle Book 2 arrive in theaters, the studio didn’t announce a specific date, but along with the confirmation the studio planted their flag on several dates including moving a previously dated untitled fairy tale movie from December 22nd, 2017 to July 28th, 2017 in order to avoid Star Wars Episode 8 the week before. The studio also secured dates for two more untitled Disney fairy tale films on April 6th, 2018 and December 20th, 2019 and two untitled live-action films for August 3rd, 2018 and December 25th, 2018. Considering the success the Jungle Book had with its April release this year, we’re guessing Jungle Book 2 will likely arrive in theaters on April 6th, 2018. As for the films that could potentially fill those other dates, Disney also officially announced a sequel to their 2014 hit, Maleficent. Angelina Jolie will return in the title role with the original film’s screenwriter Linda Woolverton handling script duties on the sequel. The studio also confirmed plans for a live-action “Cruella” movie that would be a 101 Dalmations prequel focusing on that films villain with Emma Stone in the title role. Another sequel in the works that could potentially take one of the announced release dates is Mary Poppins 2 starring Emily Blunt and Hamilton creator Lin Manuel-Miranda with Into the Woods director Rob Marshall helming. Disney also confirmed plans for live-action versions of some of their other animated classics including Dumbo from director Tim Burton and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen screenwriter Ehren Kruger, Jungle Cruise starring Dwayne Johnson from Focus writers John Requa and Glenn Ficarra and a live-action Tinker Bell project starring Reese Whiterspoon as the famous fairy with Finding Dory writer Victoria Strouse penning the script. Other announced projects include a live-action adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle’s acclaimed sci-fi fantasy novel A Wrinkle in Time with Selma’s Ava DuVernay directing and the live-action The Nutcracker and the Four Realms from director Lasse Hallstrom. Official release dates will likely be announced in the coming months and will join Disney’s already impressive slate of upcoming live-action titles that include next month’s Alice Through the Looking Glass, August’s Pete’s Dragon remake and a live-action Beauty and the Beast movie starring Emma Watson that is set to arrive in theaters on March 17th. So, who’s excited for a Jungle Book sequel and which of the other announced films are you most looking forward to?
